Reality TV
If you have cable TV you can watch My Cat From Hell on the Animal Planet channel. As a veteran of a recent spate of unacceptable behavior from our cat Dickie, I overcame my understandable reluctance to watch a reality format show and took a peek the other night at My Cat From Hell. It was only going to be a short peek but we were rivetted to the couch for several hours, watching a tattooed gentleman who, I think, has chosen the name Jackson Galaxy (unless his parents celebrated his birth with blotter acid). What could have induced me to endure rivets in my nether region for a couple of hours?
Galaxy understands cats. He understands them a great deal better than I and he advocates for the cats to the folks who we would call their owners but whom he calls their guardians. He understands why and when a cat is motivated to urinate in places I consider inappropriate. He understands what moves a cat to violence. He understands the meaning of cat behaviors - hunting, playing, marking territory - from the cat's point of view. And he demonstrates his understanding by consistently altering the "unacceptable" behavior of his cat clients. Blessed are the peacemakers.

Hi.
Welcome to my blog.
Why a blog? For a couple of years now I have been posting random thoughts to Facebook. I have come to think that Facebook has some drawbacks and I am hoping this blog will be more suitable for my purposes. On FB I do not have the ability to explore in any detail the ideas that I post. Even worse, the most common FB response to my postings is No Response. Certainly, many of my netjaculations do not deserve a response, but sometimes there is no response because my comments have rolled off the screen even before they have been seen. When a comment is noticed it may get a like, which is flattering but devoid of content. What did you like about my comment? Do you agree with me completely or, in the more likely case, do you agree with part of my assertion and disagree with part? When someone actually does respond to my post the response may be quite brief, dashed off on a cellphone at a traffic light or, worse, while driving.
The blog fits nicely in that slot between Shot From the Hip and a casual email addressed To Whom It May Concern.
I invite you to participate. I am interested to hear your reactions to my thoughts.
